Dr. MacDowell is on the medical staff of Grady Memorial Hospital and is board certified in both internal medicine and pediatrics. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed his combined internal medicine and pediatric residency at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital. He and his wife, Tracy, have three children and live in Powell.
Dr. MacDowell was voted Best Family Doctor by reader's of the Delaware Gazette in the 2012 Reader's Choice Awards. These awards recognize businesses and professionals who have earned a positive reputation among consumers in the Delaware area community. Dr. MacDowell is known for his team-based approach to patient care that is more like a partnership than a traditional doctor-patient relationship. "When I go into an exam room, I introduce myself with my first name," said Dr. MacDowell. "I tell my patients that my job is to educate them, give them the pros and cons and let them make the decisions about their healthcare that are best for them. I see my role as a physician is to not only take care of people's health, but also to help them make positive health and lifestyle choices."
